Game On: Lacoste

Screen Shot 2016-02-22 at 8.45.59 AMHaving worn a school uniform up until college, I’m very familiar with the status of a little green alligator logo (a solid notch above Polo’s man on horseback). But it was only while researching this piece for Marie Claire that I learned that Lacoste’s iconic mascot is actually a crocodile, not an alligator (which of course led me on a procrastination detour to Google the difference). I also learned that RenĂ© Lacoste 1) won the French Open and 2) designed both the collared shirts now known as “polo shirts” and the iconic pleated tennis skirt. For more on the multi-talented RenĂ© Lacoste and the brand’s new fragrances (inspired by the pleated tennis skirt), please check out my story in the March issue of Marie Claire: March 2016 Lacoste
