Golden afternoon: Rosé tasting in sunny Malibu

You are now entering wine country

California may be known for its wine (if you haven’t seen “Bottle Shock” about how Napa Valley made a name for itself, stream this movie on Netflix after reading this entry) but who knew that Malibu has vineyards too? Less than an hour outside of Los Angeles and about 15 minutes from the beach, the rambling, hilly side of Malibu (which I always forget about—the beach is such a spotlight hog) is home to a handful of gorgeous wineries that produce some pretty delicious vino—especially the rosé…

After hearing about Malibu Wines Tasting Room from my friend Cinya for months, I finally went last weekend for a bachelorette party. This place is such a great escape! Tucked into the wild hills of Malibu, this charming little wine “village” lets you just hang out and enjoy in the beautiful outdoors (without pressure to buy wine or taste). There’s live music, amazing rocking adirondack chairs, and no entrance fee. Tastings are just $13 (for a flight of 4 wines) and you get to keep the glass. Pack a picnic (there are plenty of tables), breathe in the fresh air, and relax. It’s the perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon and very very romantic. I spotted lots of single ladies (especially friendly after their second glass) but very few men to go around, so I also think this would be an ideal spot for bachelors to meet women. Just F.Y.I.
