Is Your Sunscreen Illegal in Hawaii?

Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 2.49.27 PMHawaii made history yesterday by banning the sale of sunscreens that contain the chemicals oxybenzone and octinoxate, which have been proven to harm coral reefs. White coral may be beautiful, but the bleaching is actually a sign of distress. If the chemical poisoning continues (i.e. if the chemical sunscreen you applied before jumping in the ocean washes off into the water, as it does) the coral will eventually die.
