Another week, another summer makeup shopping spree. After my spending frenzy at the Melrose Avenue store, I was still missing a blush I wanted (Melrose was sold out) so while I was in New York City, I headed to Nars Cosmetics central—the Bleecker Street store—and did some more damage. I just can’t seem to get enough of their chubby lip pencils! I’m pretty sure these colors will work year-round, so hopefully my bank account and Nars will be parting ways for at least a couple of months. Here’s what I picked up:
Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella (top): A perfect, true red that’s matte but not dry. I knew I had to get this shade after my makeup artist applied it on me for a morning TV segment. It lasted after 20 interviews and an afternoon of humid NYC shopping!
Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Pop Life (bottom): A slightly shimmery, soft coral red that my makeup artist had wanted to use on me instead of the Cruella, but she didn’t have it in her kit. The color’s so amazing, she wore it herself the other day and hadn’t sanitized it yet.
Nars Blush in Douceur (top): I was looking for a new powder blush and this is the antithesis to Nars’ classic Orgasm shade. Shimmer-free and dusty rose, Douceur looks natural and adds a subtle contour to my cheeks.
Nars Blush in Nico (bottom): Makeup artist Phuong at the Nars store on Melrose described this powder as “a matte highlighter,” which sounds like an oxymoron but is actually genius—which is why the Melrose store was sold out and I had to pick it up in an entirely different city.
